Relying on our membership

The Nanaimo Astronomy Society is a registered non-profit society, dedicated to teaching people about astronomy.

We fund our outreach, events, learning and web resources, and other programs through our memberships and fundraising.

Member benefits:

  • Free attendance to our monthly meetings held year round where we have regular presentations from working professional Astronomers from the Hertzberg institute in Victoria (the largest Professional Astronomical Institute in Canada) on their cutting edge research.
  • Members-only observing sessions at our Society Observatory, with member telescopes, and the Society’s 20″ Dobsonian Telescope.
  • Borrow a telescope from the Society loaner scopes, including a Hydrogen-Alpha Solar telescope for looking safely at the sun.
